The primary academic facilities of Northeastern University's New York City campus are located between 2nd and 3rd Avenues on East 71st Street in New York City. Most classes take place in two main buildings, Carson Hall and Nugent Hall, which are connected by the Lowerre Family Terrace.
The eight-story (nine levels) Carson Hall totals 85,951 square feet and contains classrooms, science laboratories, visual arts studios within the Judith Mara Carson Center for Visual Arts (The Judy), the campus dining hall, student gathering spaces including the Commons and Regina Peruggi Room, and the Intercultural Center.
Nugent Hall, which is 67,527 square feet across five floors (six levels), houses additional classrooms, administrative and faculty offices, the Theresa Lang Theatre, the Theresa Lang Center for Producing, the Center for Academic Support and Tutoring, and David’s Café, a student lounge and café.
Carson Hall and Nugent Hall include over 11,000 square feet of theatre and dance rehearsal studio space.
The Thomas J. Shanahan Library, Media Center, and Archives, located in Nugent Hall, provides study space, research computers, reference services, audiovisual resources, and access to print and digital collections supporting the university’s academic programs. Additional student spaces in Nugent Hall include the Lowerre Family Terrace and the Hewitt Gallery of Art, which hosts exhibitions for the university community.
Dining services are available in the Carson Hall Dining Hall and David’s Café in Nugent Hall.
The university also operates additional instructional spaces at 525 Lexington Avenue (FOUND Study Turtle Bay), which includes five classrooms totaling approximately 3,258 square feet of classroom space.
